About the job

Marshall Group is the audio, tech, and design powerhouse uniting musicians and music lovers through genre-breaking innovation. Our flagship brand, Marshall, is uniquely positioned with over 60 years of rock 'n' roll attitude on stage, at home, and on the go. Our iconic products are brought to life by a dedicated team of 800 passionate employees and sold in over 90 markets worldwide.

Right now, we need to strengthen our Hardware team in Stockholm with a Mechanical Engineer who will work hands-on across the full product development lifecycle, from early concept exploration through to industrialization and design completion. You'll work alongside experienced mechanical engineers, contributing your own point of view to products that people around the world genuinely love. If you're a few years into your career and ready to grow fast by doing important work in a creative and knowledgeable team, this is the right role for you.

What you'll do

You'll be involved at every stage of product development, starting with discovery and concept work, where you'll ideate, build, test, and iterate on physical prototypes to explore mechanical solutions. As projects move through the development process, your role will shift toward verifying and validating the design, working with our internal teams and ODM partners to make sure the technical standards we've set are being met. Throughout, you'll collaborate closely with design, electronics, acoustics, compliance, and quality teams, using our 3D printing capabilities as a core part of your everyday toolkit.

This role offers a broad scope, from advanced surface modeling to the implementation of new technologies that contribute to a strong consumer experience. You will also contribute to sustainability goals by optimizing designs for efficiency, material selection, helping ensure the products we ship are built responsibly and built to last.

You will be part of a highly skilled and diverse team of mechanical engineers, actively fostering collaboration and efficiency with our development organization in China.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the mechanical development of consumer audio products across concept, detailing, and industrialization phases, working alongside a senior mechanical engineer on live projects. Main tool will be the 3D CAD software.

  • Build, test, and iterate on physical prototypes using 3D printing and other hands-on development tools, moving quickly through concepts to find the right solutions

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, electronics, acoustics, compliance, and quality throughout the product development process

  • Evaluate and propose mechanical solutions considering cost, reliability, quality, and time constraints.

  • Support bidding processes and work with manufacturing partners to verify that technical requirements are being upheld and that manufacturing output meets our standards

  • Produce requirement documentation, review and maintain engineering documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Apply design-for-x principles (DFM, DFA, DFR etc) throughout the development process to ensure manufacturability, assembly, repair, sustainability, and longevity.

Who we're looking for

You've had at least one proper engineering role and come from an environment where standards are high and craft matters. You're collaborative by nature, someone who makes their voice heard in cross-functional meetings and builds trust quickly with people across teams and time zones. Socially comfortable and communicative, you thrive in environments where good ideas can come from anywhere and where working closely with others is the norm, not the exception. You'll be embedded within the Hardware team and work side by side with a senior mechanical engineer who will help you develop and deepen your skills. A genuine curiosity about acoustics and a personal connection to music in some form would fit right in here.

You probably have the following experiences & skills

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Product Development Engineering, with professional experience in physical product development from at least one previous employer (we are not looking for recent graduates)

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or a comparable parametric CAD tool, and a real enthusiasm for doing good CAD work

  • A knack for building and prototyping in different materials and with different techniques like 3D printing, woodwork, metalwork, soldering, and similar.

  • Hands-on experience designing and developing plastic parts and components

  • A background at a company with high engineering standards, such as consumer electronics, industrial equipment, medtech, or similar fields is a strong advantage

  • Strong communication skills in English, with the confidence and social ease to work across functions and occasionally travel for projects

We strive to foster an inclusive workplace and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, disability, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age or marital status.
