Scania Full time Södertälje

Embedded developer and tester

About the job

Scania's R&D department is transforming to become part of TRATON Group R&D. TRATON is a group of strong brands with a shared mission: transforming transportation together to create the future of sustainable transport solutions. Within TRATON, we include MAN, Scania, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and International. As part of a global team of industry experts, you get to think bigger, experience more, and reach further. Together, we have the power to transform transportation.

Our values – customer first, respect, team spirit, responsibility, and elimination of waste – are at the heart of everything we do.

Role Summary

We are looking for a skilled Embedded Developer and Tester to join our team working with scheduled charging for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs).

You will play a key role in developing secure, adaptive, and cloud-connected embedded systems that enable advanced charging strategies in the TRATON brands – driving both customer value and sustainability.

In this role, you’ll work hands-on with cutting-edge platforms such as Adaptive AUTOSAR and QNX, and contribute to the bridge between in-vehicle ECUs and the AWS cloud. You will collaborate closely with developers and engineers in a fast-paced environment focused on high performance, safety, and innovation.

Job Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and test embedded software components using C++ in an Adaptive AUTOSAR environment.
  • Work on a QNX-based communication ECU, including inter-process communication, resource management, and integration with vehicle networks (CAN, SOME/IP, Ethernet).
  • Contribute to the secure connection between embedded systems and AWS IoT services
  • Ensure robust testing and continuous integration for both embedded and cloud-linked systems.
  • Collaborate in cross-functional Agile teams and contribute to continuous improvement of development and test processes.
Who You Are
  • You have solid experience in embedded software development, particularly with C++ and preferably with Adaptive AUTOSAR in automotive environments.
  • You’re comfortable working with QNX and automotive communication protocols such as CAN, SOME/IP, and Ethernet.
  • You are curious about cloud integration and how in-vehicle software can connect to scalable backends.
  • You are a collaborative and communicative team player, with excellent English skills and a proactive mindset.
  • You take pride in delivering high-quality, reliable solutions.
  • You are motivated by the impact of BEVs on sustainability and want to contribute to the electrified transport revolution.
  • A truck driver’s license (C/CE) is considered a strong plus.
This Is Us

We are a tight-knit, high-performing team of four developers within TRATON Group R&D, dedicated to enabling scheduled charging functionality in electric trucks.

We combine embedded expertise with cloud capabilities to deliver safe, secure, and efficient charging solutions for BEV customers.

Driven by collaboration, strong ownership, and a shared commitment to sustainable innovation, we follow value-based SAFe agile principles – with delivery always in focus, but never at the cost of personal growth or innovation.

Together with the other teams in our group, we form a key capability in the future of connected and electrified transport solutions. This section remains unchanged.

Within TRATON Group R&D, you are an important part of something bigger. Joining us means gaining access to the ins and outs of the entire transportation industry. As part of a global team of industry experts, you get to think bigger, experience more, and reach further. Being bigger also means being stronger. Together with our brands, we have the collective power to transform transportation.

We Offer

We offer a dynamic, flexible workplace with hybrid work options, including Scania Sergel and Midway hubs. With a structured development plan and courses, TRATON Group R&D supports your career growth both locally and internationally. Benefits include wellness allowance, TRATON result bonus, flexible hours, and company car leasing. We also hosts events for employees and their families, and Stockholm residents enjoy direct access to Södertälje via Scania Job express buses.
